We wrapped up cyber-attack scenario testing at Universidad de Sevilla. The solution demonstrated solid detection capabilities across realistic attack vectors—exactly what we need before final validation. Attack execution to detection: everything performed as expected. 🚨
Prof. Angelos Marnerides presented COCOON’s AI-driven Critical Infrastructure security at Cyprus’s “Driving Trustworthy AI through Design and Regulation” event. He demonstrated the Programmable Node protecting interconnected power grids, showcasing practical AI resilience at national scale.

At ENLIT 2025 in Bilbao, Greek partner ΔΕΔΔΗΕ Α.Ε. – HEDNO S.A. presented its first dedicated pavilion, featuring COCOON alongside Motivate XR and Alfion Infra. The showcase focused on smart grids, energy efficiency, digitization, and onshore power supply solutions. With over 15,000 attendees, 700 exhibitors, and 500 speakers, ENLIT 2025 provided a dynamic environment for innovation and collaboration.
COCOON had a successful week at SEMICON Europa 2025 in Munich, where project coordinator Angelos Marnerides presented the COCOON Programmable Node (CPN) and its role in boosting cybersecurity for critical infrastructures. As the CPN nears its final version and testing progresses across real pilot sites, COCOON continues to deliver fast, reliable, and cost-effective cybersecurity enhancements. The 5th COCOON General Assembly in Delft highlighted strong project progress, with all work packages ahead of schedule and pilots at TRL 6. Partners collaborated over two productive days, and the COCOON Programmable Node (CPN) continues to advance. Thanks to TU Delft for hosting.
The COCOON Programmable Node (CPN) is rapidly progressing thanks to collaborative work across several universities and partners in Europe. Its architecture, cybersecurity services, and ICT network capabilities are being jointly developed to meet the demands of real pilot deployments in Greece, the Netherlands, and Spain. A successful technical workshop hosted by the University of Glasgow brought all partners together for hands-on configuration and deployment of the CPN. Step by step, the unified COCOON solution for next-generation grids is becoming a reality.
The COCOON Workshop at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss cybersecurity in power systems. Highlights included keynote talks from Mr. Michail Bletsas and Dr. Konstantinos Moulinos, partner presentations on COCOON’s progress, and a dynamic roundtable discussion. The event fostered valuable insights into NIS2, digital substations, and real-world pilot applications in Greece and Spain.
The 4th COCOON Consortium Meeting was held in Thessaloniki, uniting all partners to review progress and plan the next phase. The event highlighted strong collaboration, with a visit to HEDNO’s premises offering insights into their strategic goals and contributions to grid modernization and cybersecurity.
